The Border Guard and Tactical Brigade intervened brutally with stun grenade, terrorizing everybody. They arrested three, seizing five pistols and an M-16 rifle. The following day, the groom, an 18-year-old, was also detained for questioning for allegedly failing to prevent the shooting and for suspected drug-related offenses. The Israeli authorities are considering extending his detention based on the investigation’s findings. "In a moment of great darkness, your protests erupt and give hope for humanity that justice is not an abstract concept but a continuous struggle that connects us all. Your values are emancipating the university from structural racism and complicity with power and colonialism. The situation in Palestine has reached increased genocidal levels, marked by the mass targeting of Palestinian life by killing and displacement; the destroying of social, cultural, and all educational institutions; and the aim to reduce Palestinians to bare life with no political and collective future. You are leaders in the call for justice with your bodies on your university campuses and in the streets, speaking truth and justice loud and clear. You stand for the courage that is needed to take action strongly for justice and freedom and determinedly against systems of genocide and racism. We know the risks you are taking in face of the repressive measures that are taken against university spaces built on challenging the powers benefitting from silence. At a time when the voices of the oppressed are intentionally silenced, your solidarity serves as a beacon of hope. Your actions are a resounding message that injustice and oppression will not be tolerated. We draw inspiration from the courage of those who refuse and resist the continuing injustices of settler colonialism and military occupation. We know the risks you are taking in face of the repressive measures that are taken against university spaces built on challenging the powers benefitting from silence. Israel denies child to accompany his father for treatment abroad [Original post] This child's family was approved for medical evacuation, except for him. He had to say goodbye to his father and was left in the care of his uncle. Palestinian families undergoing medical evacuation are being separated without any knowledge of when they will reunite. Israel's COGAT decides which family members are allowed to leave, with no explanation given for why some are denied. Meanwhile, there are reports that some evacuated families are being forced to sign papers stating that they will not be allowed to return to Gaza once they arrive in the country of treatment. Reporting about two universities in ruins in Gaza [Original post] I should have graduated from here a year ago; however, I am still stranded. I've visited my university for the first time since Oct 2023 to see it in ruins. This is a heartbreaking report for me. I can't believe what I've seen. 🎥🎙Report for @PressTV [Tags: Schools, Views of Destruction, Schools, Caterpillar D9, Explosives, Bombs, Bulldozer, Heritage and culture, Cultural Cleansing, Educide, Palestinian art & culture] [Found by: Abubaker Abed, @PressTV] [Location: Gaza > North Gaza] [Archivist Notes] The Israeli forces have systematically caused severe destruction to Gaza's education sector, with many universities either destroyed or repurposed as shelters for displaced families. This will have long-lasting effects on Gaza's 90,000 students and the region's educational future. Below are the universities affected: 1. Islamic University of Gaza Founded in 1978, over 17,000 students as of 2023 Destruction : Destroyed on 10 October ; accused by Israel of producing weapons without any evidence. Previously hit in 2008-2009 and 2014. Major Asaf Fred, who was later in Rafah & a commander in IDF’s 460 Brigade, admits to the destruction of IUG university in Gaza, a court & Rimal neighborhood without any military objectives . He also called for the destruction of Amalekite cities + “‘no good arabs” On December 19 he posts a long Genocidal justification. On March 1, he shares a satellite imagery of Younis: “Amazing! This is how it should be done to all the Amalekite cities. (Khan Yunis, during the IDF maneuver)” In November 5, 2024, some remaining buildings of this University were used as military base by Israeli troops. The incidents took place in Nur Shams camp near Tulkarem, as part of an ongoing Israeli military large-scale operation of invasion and forced displacement of the populations in the northern West Bank, where military operation began about 14 days ago. The operation involved widespread destruction of public and private property, assaults, kidnappings of local residents, and forced displacement of families from their homes. On Sunday morning , the Israeli military deployed massive forces, including armored vehicles, heavy bulldozers, and drones, to raid Nur Shams camp. Gunfire and explosions were heard during the raid. Israeli forces began raiding homes, opening fire, kidnapping citizens, and flying drones over the camp. They also imposed a tight siege on the camp. Forced Displacement: Israeli forces seized residential buildings in various areas, including Dhanabah, Iktaba, and as-Salam neighborhood, and forced families to leave these areas on foot after confiscating their cars. Families were also forced at gunpoint to leave Jabel an-Nasser and Jabel as-Salihin neighborhoods , walking to Kafr al-Labad town. After displacing the residents, the Israeli military used the vacated buildings and areas as military posts and sniper sites. The Red Crescent in Tulkarem reported that Israeli forces prevented ambulance crews from entering Nur Shams camp, despite information about Palestinian casualties. A)Sundus Jamal Shalabi On February 9, 23-year-old Sundus Jamal Shalabi, eight months pregnant, was killed and her husband critically injured by Israeli forces in the Nour Shams refugee camp near Tulkarm. They were forcibly displaced during the Israeli assault, and while escaping at dawn, they were targeted with gunfire. The couple was delayed in receiving medical help, with Israeli forces preventing Red Crescent teams from reaching them. After a prolonged delay, they were transported to Thabet Thabet Hospital, only to be stopped again by Israeli forces for half an hour. Sundus and her unborn baby were pronounced dead, while her husband remains in critical condition. According to an article posted in Haaretz on Feb. 10, 2025. Injuries: -PRCS stated that its teams in Tulkarem received a 14-year-old child who was injured by the military’s gunfire in Nur Shams, as well as the child’s father, who sustained a gunshot wound to the foot. Engagement rules modified in IDF According to Haaretz, in an article published on February 10, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Central Command has reportedly expanded its open-fire orders in the West Bank, leading to a high number of Palestinian civilian deaths , according to Israeli army sources. The IDF has denied any official change, claiming that senior officers in the Central Command implemented new tactics. The expanded orders allow soldiers to shoot anyone suspected of planting explosives, leading to increased use of lethal force. These orders have reportedly made soldiers "trigger-happy" and resulted in these tragic incidents, including the deaths of a pregnant woman and a child, as well as other civilians. Critics argue that these new rules resemble tactics used in Gaza, contributing to heightened violence in the West Bank. The IDF maintains that its actions are targeted at combatants, but many of the casualties have been non-combatants. Investigations into these deaths are ongoing.
