He points out that the law applies almost exclusively to Palestinians and Arab citizens tried in Israeli courts while exempting Jewish citizens, a discrimination built directly into the legislation's language. He notes that most judges sitting on the Israeli Supreme Court today are themselves colonial settlers, making legal challenges difficult but not impossible, and urges that petitions continue regardless. His broader warning is directed at the world: Israel has spent two years openly defying international law, torturing and killing Palestinian, Syrian, and Lebanese hostages alike, and this law is not a departure from that reality. Several Palestinians were injured and others detained earlier today after Israeli colonists, under army protection, attacked residents in the Khalla Amira and Rujoum Ali areas of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron. According to local sources, colonists released their livestock near residents’ homes and assaulted Palestinians in the area, causing multiple injuries, including bruises and contusions. Habib Ali al-Adra and Ahmed Ismail al-Adra were transferred to Yatta Governmental Hospital for medical treatment. A large number of Israeli soldiers then stormed the area, firing stun grenades and tear gas at residents. Several were detained during the raid before seven Palestinians were abducted.

Earlier this week, two other families were evicted from the same neighborhood. This brings the total to 15 families--some 80 individuals--who have been made homeless amid an ongoing war with Iran and daily missile fire. These evictions come after Israeli courts authorized the families’ displacement based on claims that the homes were built on property allegedly owned by Jews before 1948.
