Not enough tents for sheltering thousands of homeless families in Gaza [Original post] Only about 20,000 approved UN tents have entered Gaza since the “ceasefire.” There’s an additional 70,000 tents that are estimated to have entered through other organizations. https://chuffed.org/project/149178-sameer-project-x-mass-displacement-campaign. But…more than 300,000 families were in need of immediate shelter when the cessation of constant bombings began, and since then another 42,000 shelters were destroyed from the winter storms, adding to the needs. When a new tent is not available, or when the tent is easily salvaged by covering it with a water proof tarp, we take this option in order to save tents for those most in need. A large tarp can be installed and secured over a current tent or structure to stop rain from leaking in.
