Dubbed the "Resilience (Sumud) Convoy," the mission is scheduled to depart on 9 June 2025 via Libya and Egypt toward the Rafah crossing, which remains closed by Israel. Organizers say over 7,500 volunteers have joined the effort since 13 May, including members of Tunisia’s football ultras known for their history of political activism. While the Freedom Flotilla draws global media attention, Tunisian organizers stress this initiative is both humanitarian and political in nature, aimed at confronting Israel’s blockade and what they describe as a policy of enforced starvation. Message from Jewish Dr. Gabor Maté in Poland to the crew of the Madleen [Original post] .@DrGaborMate sends a message of solidarity to the Madleen Freedom Flotilla: [Found by: @aaronjmate] [Location: Mediterranean Sea] [Archivist Notes] Gabor Maté is a Jewish Hungarian-born Canadian physician, psychotherapist, and author known for his work on trauma, addiction, and mind-body health. A Holocaust survivor born in Budapest in 1944, Maté has drawn from his early experiences of war, displacement, and antisemitism to shape his deep sensitivity to suffering and systemic violence. He has gained international recognition for books such as In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts (on addiction), When the Body Says No (on stress and illness), and The Myth of Normal , where he argues that trauma — often originating in early childhood — is at the root of many psychological and physical ailments. His approach emphasizes compassion over punishment and asks not “Why the addiction?” but “Why the pain?” Connection with Israel and Gaza Though Jewish and deeply marked by the Holocaust, Gabor Maté has been a vocal critic of Israeli government policies, particularly toward Palestinians. He has condemned what he sees as the dehumanization and collective punishment of the population in Gaza, which he connects to broader patterns of intergenerational trauma. In interviews and public talks, Maté has argued that being a survivor of trauma does not justify perpetuating trauma on others. He has called the Israeli occupation morally indefensible and expressed support for Palestinian human rights, often drawing backlash from pro-Israel voices. In 2023, he appeared in interviews where he described the suffering in Gaza as a form of “trauma reenactment” and said that true Jewish identity must be rooted in universal compassion, not nationalism. Maté’s stance is controversial among some Jewish communities but is seen by others — especially trauma-informed activists — as an ethically grounded call for justice and healing on all sides.

Just one hour later, I got a call from neighbors telling me that my house had been completely bombed. My home was sheltering my entire extended family - 48 of the dearest people to my heart. They were all killed. When I got there, there was no house — only rubble. I was only able to bury four of them. The rest were torn apart, their body parts scattered. Some were outside, some I couldn't even recognize. I collapsed when I saw the scene. I lost consciousness from the shock. In a single moment, I lost my entire family. Ras al-Auja under Israeli outpost siege: Bedouin residents speak out [Original post] In Ras Ain al-Ouja, a historic Bedouin village in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian residents face escalating settler violence, land theft, and forced displacement. Once a haven of natural springs and open grazing lands, the village is now surrounded by settler outposts and military repression. Families are being pushed from their homes, sheep are penned without access to pasture, and children grow up in fear, all while settlers, backed by Israeli forces, seize thousands of dunams and vital resources like the Al-Ouja spring. #FreePalestine #GazaGenocide [Found by: Sahat] [Location: West Bank > Jordan Valley > Jericho / Ariha > Ras Al-Auja > Ras al-Ein Ras Al-Auja]
