Civil Defense crews, supported by police forces and members of the local community, battled the blaze for more than three hours on Al-Thawra Street in the Al-Rimal neighborhood before bringing it under control. The limited capabilities and scarce resources available to firefighters made the operation especially difficult, as crews worked to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby buildings. Several people suffering from smoke inhalation were transferred for treatment, others were evacuated from inside the building, and the fire left extensive material damage. Abu Salmiya said some bodies bore medical sutures inconsistent with battlefield injuries, raising serious suspicions that organs were removed while victims were in Israeli custody. Gaza has no DNA testing equipment due to Israel’s blockade, forcing medical teams to rely on visual markers, clothing, and photographs—methods largely useless given the severe mutilation and decomposition of remains, the doctor said. Israel continues to withhold information on the identities and circumstances of death, while international mechanisms have failed to compel transparency.
