Sewing baby onesies to respond to the number of infants that were dying from hypothermia [Original post] “Please don’t forget us.” “Please don’t stop.” Amidst the texts of joy and celebration, these are also the messages we are receiving today. While aid trucks are already starting to enter the Gaza Strip, we must remember that even 600 proposed trucks per day will not reach everyone, will not eliminate hunger overnight, and will not provide everything needed to reverse the suffering. This is why we won’t stop. Not even for a moment. One very talented resident in The Refaat Alareer Camp had an idea to make warm baby onesies to respond to the number of infants that were dying from hypothermia. With the help of two women in the camp, this small team sewed 109 onesies for ages 0-3 out of old blankets bought at the market, washed, and repurposed. We created packages that includes informative brochure written by Dr. Azal Ali (@azalazal23) on methods to protect babies from freezing to death, the onesie, diapers, a hat, gloves and socks. So far 33 were distributed in Khan Younis and 28 in Nuseirat where we also conducted educational workshops, and we gave an additional 4 packages away to mothers with newborns. Let’s show Gaza that we will not forget them. We will not leave them. We will do even more to assist. We have plans, we’ve been waiting for the day when we can start imagining not being needed in the same way. We will transition eventually into sustainable projects that we are so excited about. But we will still need you. We will need to do this together. A horde of armed settlers attacked Palestinian homes in Yatma town under military protection before local residents tried to fend them off. According to Ahmad Snobar, head of the Yatma village council, colonists attacked the Hawouz area to the north of the village, provoking confrontations with local residents who confronted the assailants. Israeli occupation forces intervened to provide protection for the colonists, deploying a heavy barrage of gunfire and tear gas against the villagers. Palestinian young man suffered a bullet injury in his leg when Israeli forces opened fire at him during clashes between settlers and local residents in the town. He rushed to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces intensified their security measures on the road connecting Jenin, Nablus and Tubas, where they intercepted cars and detained many passengers for security checks.
