The operation was led by the violent settler Haggai Shrara from the illegal outpost of Yad HaShomer, who recruited four soldiers to assist him. In the morning, he assaulted a Palestinian shepherd woman, causing her to fall and sustain injuries. From there, he took the soldiers to Al-Farisiya and instructed them to summon shepherd A., who was at that time out grazing together with the other herds and with a settler herd from the illegal outpost of Shirat HaAsavim. When A. returned, the soldiers took him aside for an intimidating conversation and carried out a thorough search of the entire house, overturning whatever they could, without specifying what they were looking for. After that, Haggai took the soldiers into the field and chased the cattle herds of Ein al-Hilweh with his ATV, driving them into a plowed Palestinian field and rampaging through it in order to cause maximum damage. The herd managed to escape to Al-Farisiya, where Haggai then brought two soldiers on his ATV and ordered them to arrest shepherd Y. The settlers openly declare that their goal is the transfer of every Palestinian from Area C. In the days after that recording, the settler allegedly returned to graze cattle, and two days later, sheep. I asked COGAT whether during continued documentation of illegal construction the army uses grazing cattle or sheep as a tool. They replied that the reservist’s behavior is unacceptable, that they condemn harassment, and act to prevent it—but noted that these are legally allocated grazing lands. At the same time, nearby, the settlers caused destruction in two separate locations — beating residents with clubs in Khirbet al-Fakhit and setting fire to a pile of wood used for cooking. The footage shows that the settlers who attacked with clubs in al-Fakhit arrived in a pickup truck equipped with a net suitable for transporting livestock. I visited the villages yesterday and collected testimonies. We hope to publish the full sequence of events tomorrow. But there is no doubt that this is one of the most humiliating and clear cases in which the IDF protected settlers during acts of violence."

These armed groups operate from areas under Israeli occupation control, allowing Israeli occupation forces to bypass ceasefire restrictions by using local proxies to carry out attacks in zones officially off-limits to Israeli troops. The role of these militias surfaced publicly after Hussam Al-Astal, a militia leader, claimed responsibility for killing a police official in Al-Mawasi. Israeli officials and reservists say the support goes far beyond humanitarian aid. An extensive investigation by Forbidden Stories, in collaboration with Bellingcat, ARIJ, and other media partners, has revealed a disturbing pattern of Israeli military attacks targeting Palestinian journalists who use drones to document destruction in the Gaza Strip. Since October 2023, Palestinian journalists have been effectively prevented from filming Gaza from the air. Of the small number who continued to use drones to document the scale of devastation, at least five have been killed or seriously wounded in Israeli strikes that colleagues and investigators describe as deliberate.
