Civil defense teams managed to recover dozens of the bodies of Palestinians killed during the ethnic cleansing campaign in northern Gaza. In October 2024, the Israeli army implemented the Generals' Plan to ethnically cleanse the northern Gaza Strip, besieging the region and cutting off food, water, and essential supplies, and systematically targeting hospitals. Over 5,000 civilians were killed and more than 9,500 were injured by Israeli forces during the military operation.

Armed soldiers or settlers who arrived at the scene took him, and since then, no one knows where he is. As mentioned, he is an elderly man. The video recorded by the "soldiers" was sent to Elchanan Groner (a right-wing journalist) and was published on social media. For over three hours, neither the army nor the police have provided answers regarding the whereabouts or condition of Eric Asherman. It is possible that the soldiers are settlers who were drafted or that they impersonated soldiers. Since the videos recorded by the soldiers on their private phones were sent to right-wing journalists, they may be able to provide answers about Eric's condition. The attached video is titled "The Source - The Soldier", which was filmed by the soldier and published." Arik Ascherman (Hebrew: אריק אשרמן; born 1959) is an American-born Israeli Reform rabbi, and Executive Director of the Israeli human rights organization Torat Tzedek-Torah of Justice. For 21 years, starting in 1995, he served as Co-Director (1995-1998), Executive Director (1998-2010), Director of Special Projects (2010-2012) and President and Senior Rabbi (2012-2017) for Rabbis for Human Rights, an Israeli organization. As a human rights activist, he has spearheaded activities to defend Palestinians against Israeli settler violence, worked for socioeconomic justice for Israelis, and advocated on behalf of Israel's Bedouin citizens. He has been frequently attacked and subject to beatings by settlers,and has stood trial several times for acts of civil disobedience. He appears in the 2010 documentary Israel vs Israel. He is fluent in both Hebrew and Arabic.

During my recent visit to Washington, I said that Donald Trump is the greatest friend that Israel has ever had in the White House. And President Trump shows that friendship each and every day. He has shown it through his visionary plan for Gaza, this is a plan which Israel fully supports. He's shown it by sending us all the munitions that were being held up. This way he is giving Israel the tools we need to finish the job against Iran’s terror axis. And he has shown it by fully backing Israel and putting the pressure to release the hostages where it truly belongs – on Hamas. Israel has accepted President Trump’s envoy @SteveWitkoff's plan to extend the temporary ceasefire by 50 days, during that time we can discuss the conditions for a permanent ceasefire that will end the war in Gaza. In Witkoff’s plan, half of the hostages would be released right away and the remaining half would be released if we reach an agreement on a permanent ceasefire. Again, Israel has accepted this plan. I accepted this plan. But so far, Hamas has rejected it. Hamas had also put forward positions for a permanent ceasefire that are totally unacceptable. Israel has decided to stop letting goods and supplies into Gaza, something we've done for the past 42 days. We've done that because Hamas steals the supplies and prevents the people of Gaza from getting them. It uses these supplies to finance its terror machine, which is aimed directly at Israel and our civilians – and this we cannot accept. We will take further steps if Hamas continues to hold our hostages. And throughout this, Israel knows that America and President Trump have our back. Thank you again, President Trump! [Original post] This morning, Arik Asherman, a not-so-young human rights activist, tried to prevent the theft of a sheep from a Palestinian herd in El Marajam, south of Nablus . Soldiers or armed settlers who arrived at the scene took him and since then no one knows where he is. For over 3 hours, neither the army nor the police have had any answers regarding where or in what conditions Arik Asherman is. It might be that the soldiers are soldiers-settlers or pretended to be soldiers. Either way, the videos they filmed on their private phones were passed to the settler media, who may be able to provide answers regarding Arik's condition. In the attached video, the soldier speaks to Arik in blunt and violent language. What started with the kidnapping Palestinians has spread to left-wing activists in the occupied territories, and will reach everywhere in Israel.
