Due to the dangerous nature of the area and the lack of ambulances or transportation, they were able to retrieve one body, while the other two remain at the scene. Additional context from journalist Bisan Shrafi as the IDF published an order prohibiting people from returning to Nareas in North Gaza following this massacre: The terrorist army issued this order after killing of a number of citizens, including children. The people tried to return to their areas and homes in the north to check on them or retrieve their belongings. The army deceived the public into believing that its forces were retreating on the ground in several areas, only to surprise them with artillery shelling and quadcopter fire. This resulted in the deaths of several citizens. Residents were able to recover the bodies of only five of them, including two children and a woman. Eyewitnesses reported that the bodies of several other martyrs were still lying in the streets of the north: in al-Sultan, Beit Lahia, and elsewhere.
