It is part of the Masafer Yatta area in the Hebron Governorate. It lies east of the town of Yatta in Area C of the West Bank, which is under full Israeli civil and military control. The village is at about 779 m above sea level, surrounded by other small cave‑dwelling and herding communities. It is in the South Hebron Hills, a rural region of scattered Palestinian hamlets often affected by land and movement restrictions. People in Al‑Mufaqara traditionally live in caves or simple structures, and many rely on herding and small‑scale farming.
