"The situation is escalating, so let’s clarify a few details. Daniel was evacuated by an IDF ambulance, which fitted him with the brace. The incident occurred in Area A, where entry by Israelis is prohibited by law. He said: “Arabs from the village started arriving… shouting, cursing us, throwing stones at us. After a long time, they arrived, managed to rescue us, and evacuated us to a hospital.” However, footage from the scene during the evacuation shows the ATV on the road and the Palestinian vehicle down a slope. The Palestinian driver, a 57-year-old resident of Beit Ummarin, was also injured and taken to hospital. Later, according to the IDF spokesperson, he turned himself in to security forces. His lawyer, Ahmad Khalifa, was informed that he is barred from meeting him for 48 hours. The driver’s brother told Haaretz: “We were sitting in mourning for our aunt who passed away. My brother left before me, and people said they saw him driving his car among the olive trees on the mountain. It was very rainy. We went there and saw the accident. At first I didn’t know my brother’s condition. We came from the village and helped them—my brother helped them. I saw him between two settlers shouting at them: ‘What did you do? Why are you doing these foolish things?’ He shouted to his son, who arrived at the scene, to bring a blanket or a towel, and he placed it on the wounded.” He added: “The settler didn’t have a phone. I ask the whole world to look at his hands—this is a man who works all the time,” he said, adding that he fears for his brother’s safety, as he “left the hospital and went straight into detention.” Attorney Khalifa firmly denied that this was a terror attack. “This is a normal traffic accident that could happen to anyone,” he said. “A motorized vehicle that is not allowed on the road surprised a Palestinian driver in Area A.” He added: “The version of the injured brother is baseless and false, driven by an extreme political agenda. It achieved its goal in the numerous attacks against Palestinians over two days, despite clear documentation showing that the suspect and his relatives helped the injured and called the Red Crescent and a local doctor to treat them. The full truth will soon come out. The fact that the case was transferred to the Shin Bet and that the driver is barred from meeting a lawyer reflects the automatic labeling of Palestinians, where every accident becomes a ‘terror attack.’” Since Saturday night, while the circumstances are still under investigation, settlers have called for revenge on social media. Graffiti seen at the scene read: “A good Arab is a dead one” and “Revenge.” The Shuva Israel outpost was established last year in Area C, east of the settlement of Homesh and north of Beit Ummarin, about 400 meters from Area A. “Settlers have been entering the village and walking between the houses for some time,” a resident told Haaretz. “They stole sheep in our village. They’re here all day, behaving badly. I know not all Israelis are like this, but this is our reality. They say Israel is a democracy, but what they are doing is not democracy.” Last Thursday, two days before the incident, Haaretz asked the IDF spokesperson to respond to footage of settlers—one armed with a long rifle—who came from the outpost to the village on an ATV.
