The Musallam / Kasiya are Palestinian Christians who were evicted from their land in Beit Jala [Original post] Amira Musallam and her in-laws - the Kasiyas, are Palestinian Christians who were evicted from their land in Beit Jala, Bethlehem. Amira says they have papers from the Israeli Supreme Court proving the land is theirs. But so far authorities are not removing the squatters. Protestors—both Israelis and Palestinians alike—have set up a 24/7 vigil on the site to draw attention. Part 1 of 3 🎬 Full video 👉 https://youtu.be/GZh7Gc-A9gw?si=NlBw6YEIsQEJ-0Gm [Tags: Soldiers and Settlers, Shops, Palestine Voices, Demolition Order, Home Theft, Living conditions, Property, Land theft] [Found by: @of_darkness07] [Location: West Bank > Bethlehem > Al-Makhrour > Beit Jala] [Archivist Notes] The Christian Qaisiya (Kisiya) family owned land in al-Makhrour valley, near Beit Jala, in the occupied West Bank. She had a successful restaurant on their five dunams (5,000 square meters) of land, which was established in 2005. They later built a nearby house for residential purposes in 2010. Alice Qaisiya, the daughter of this family became a symbolic figure of the Palestinian resistance against the land theft and the settlement. Historical and Legal Context: The restaurant was built partially within an old mudbrick structure predating 1967, which the family argued did not require permits. The Israeli authorities, through the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), maintained that permits were necessary. The property faced legal challenges from Haminuta, a subsidiary of the Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), which claimed ownership of the land based on a supposed purchase dating back to 1969. However, this claim was contentious due to incomplete land registration in the area, raising concerns of possible mistakes or forgery. The al-Makhrour hill is strategically valuable for connecting Israeli settlements, such as Gush Etzion and Har Gilo, to Jerusalem. Activists argue that this plan is part of the broader 'Greater Jerusalem'project, aimed at consolidating Israeli control and isolating Palestinian villages from Bethlehem. Activists like Hagit Ofran from the Peace Now group emphasized the demolition's significance in disconnecting Palestinian territories and preventing the establishment of a cohesive Palestinian state. Palestinian activist Hasan Breijeh highlighted that the demolitions aim to pressure families into abandoning their land, aligning with a broader strategy of territorial consolidation for Israeli settlements. The community's efforts to resist these measures include public advocacy, legal battles, and a strong presence on contested land. Home demolitions in the occupied territories violate international law, specifically the fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits altering the conditions on the ground in occupied areas. Demolition by Israeli Forces: The restaurant was previously dismantled in 2012 and 2013 , with the family rebuilding each time. On a Monday morning in August 2019 , the Israeli military demolished the family’s restaurant and home. The stated reason was the lack of a proper construction permit, which is a frequent justification used by Israeli authorities for demolitions in the West Bank. The demolition took place despite a notice from the Israeli High Court calling for a delay, which was ignored by the military commander on site. On Augustus 9, 2024 Israeli settlers invaded the Qaisiya properties supported by Israeli soldiers. on Augustus 26, 2024 Pastor Munther Isaac @MuntherIsaac "Today I visited the Qaisiya family. There were forcebly expelled from their land by the Israeli military, and now they are staying in a tent outside of their land. They were attacked by settlers, and Alice the daughter was arrested, (she was released for now today). In the tent I also met Israeli activists for peace who are in solidarity with the family from Combatants For Peace, and young men from Masafir Yatta who are facing similar challenges and came as well to show solidarity. It was powerful to see Jews and Muslims in solidarity with this Christian family from Bethlehem. Please pray and advocate for this family. I took a picture of the official document that prove their ownership of the land. What the Qaisiya family is facing is what we as Palestinians have been enduring for 76 years, namely: Ethnic cleansing. This is what the settler activity is all about." On November 3, 2024 Alice Qaisiya was arrested, for the second time this year, by the Israeli security forces, according to savealmakhrour "Fresh out of hospital for knee surgery, still on crutches, she was attacked by armed settlers and then taken into custody by the IOF (*video of her arrest is in our most recent Reel). We ask our global community and friends to raise your voices of concern, call representatives, notify embassies, notify organisations and organising groups ... and pray. Pray for her safety and quick release ... and continue to pray for justice to come to Al-Makhrour and all of Palestine." On november 29, 2024 The Israeli army arrested Palestinian Christian Alice QaIsiyia and her mother for visiting their own land, which was stolen by Israeli settler. Source : Impact on the Family and Community: Despite the repeated setbacks, the Qaisyehs, led by Ramzi and supported by his daughter Alice, remained resilient. Alice expressed the emotional toll but asserted that they were "not defeated." The family, supported by the local community, set up tents on the land and vowed to rebuild. "In this Palestinian valley west of Bethlehem, which in 2014 became a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its its olive groves and vineyards, the Qaisiya family's restaurant is nothing more than a pile of ruins topped by fences. It was a restaurant appreciated for its cuisine and friendliness in the Palestinian Christian town of Beit Jala. "The place is beautiful, the food succulent and the owners are adorable [...]. If you're passing through Beit Jala, a stop at Al Makhrour is a must," a comment from 2015 reads on its Facebook page. Ramzi Qaisiya who had inherited the land opened a restaurant in 2001 there with his wife and their four children. For years, hundreds of tourists passing through Bethlehem stopped there for a salad before continuing their hike in the green valleys. For a long time, the Makhrour valley was untouched by uncontrolled Israeli settlements, but the trouble began in 2012 when an Israeli outpost - a settlement not authorised by the government - was built there. The settlers demolished the restaurant, claiming it belonged to the JNF. The Qaisiya family, who insist otherwise, rebuilt their restaurant before it was demolished again in 2013 and then again in 2015. In 2019 the family decided to take the case to court to have their rights heard. But in 2023, a civil court in Jerusalem validated the expropriation. In a bid to prevent the family's restaurant from being rebuilt again, the Israeli army declared the site to be a "closed military zone", which prevented anyone from entering it until this past summer, when Israeli settlers backed by soldiers destroyed it once again. Israeli settlers backed by the army seized the 5,000 square- metre plot on July 31 and evicted the French-Palestinian family. "We are being targeted because we reject the government's Zionist policy," said Michelle Qaisiya. Expulsions of Palestinians from their land in West Bank have increased, particularly since Israel's far-right government came to power in 2022. The situation has sharply deteriorated since Israel's invasion of Gaza last year." from hiddenpalestine To go further :

At least 100 Palestinians were killed and 47 others were injured, with several victims being trapped in the school as the fire spread At around 4:40 during Fajr morning prayers in the Al-Tabi'een school, which was being used to house roughly 6,000 refugees and internally displaced Palestinian citizens, three rockets struck the building, causing the structure to collapse. It was the fifth attack on a school in a week and the UN Human Rights Office said it was "horrified by the unfolding pattern" of attacks on schools. An Al Jazeera investigation found that the bombing was deliberately performed to result in maximum casualties. A CNN weapons expert identifed shrapnel evident in footage from the aftermath of the attack as coming from a GBU-39 manufactured by the US-based Boeing.

Over 11 months, the occupation targeted all mosques across the Gaza strip with direct strikes or by demolishing them. The report shows footage obtained from IDF soldiers and drones of mosques being obliterated. Khan Younis: blowing-up the Great Mosque of Khan Younis, built in 1928, older than Israel by 2 decades. North Gaza: Soldiers desecrate Masjid Bani Saleh pointing their rifles and ransacking it. Soldiers are clearly seen leisurely ripping apart copies of the Quran and setting them all on fire. Gaza City, Old City: destruction of the centuries-old Masjid Al-Omari, one of the oldest mosques in the world, as a result of Israeli bombing. According to the Gaza Communications Office: 609 mosques have been completely destroyed, and another 211 partially. 3 churches have also been destroyed, notably the Church of St. Porphyrius, the third oldest church in the world. Israel does not respect the sanctity of anything in Gaza, with no regard to religion or law. It brought the roofs of mosques down on the people praying inside multiple times, and Gazans will not soon forget the massacre scenes that unfolded such as: Gaza City, Sabra neighborhood, Masjid Ihyaa' al-Sunna, November 15, 2023: 50 killed during evening prayers. Gaza City, Shati RC, Al-Masjid Al-Abyad (the white mosque). July 13, 2024: 22 killed brutally torn to shreds during the midday prayer. Others have been flattened with bulldozers or blown-up with explosives and record by soldiers as souvenirs of their crimes in Gaza. The people of Gaza, however, remain attached to their mosques even as they became ruins. While destroying mosques, Israel isn't targeting mere buildings, it is killing the souls of Gazans attached to their mosques.

I spoke with Dr. @yipengGe about his experience working as a doctor in Gaza & about the potentially fatal spread of polio there. [Tags: Hospitals, Water, Blocking Aid, Local Governance, Sanitation, Water, Living conditions, Epidemic, Infrastructure, Doctors & Volunteers, Children, Healthcare System] [Found by: Samira Mohyeddin سمیرا] [Location: Gaza > North Gaza > Southern Gaza > Central Gaza] [Archivist Notes] Context Polio is highly contagious and transmits mainly through contact with contaminated feces, water or food. It can cause difficulty breathing and irreversible paralysis, usually in the legs. It strikes young children in particular and is sometimes fatal. Chronology June 19 : Gaza’s Ministry of Health said it had detected “component poliovirus type 2” in coordination with UNICEF, the United Nations children’s agency End of July : The World Health Organization is “extremely worried” about the possibility of an outbreak of the highly infectious polio virus in Gaza after traces were found in wastewater. Immunisation rates in Gaza and the occupied West Bank were optimal before the conflict. Polio vaccine coverage was estimated at 99% in 2022, although it had declined to 89% last year, according to the latest data. the “decimation” of Gaza health system" - with only 16 out of the territory's 36 hospitals partially functional - as well as the "lack of security, access obstruction, constant population displacement, shortages of medical supplies, poor quality of water and weakened sanitation" have contributed to reduce immunisation rates and increase the risk of diseases spreading. First case at the end of July : According to the WHO, a 10-month-old baby had been paralysed by the type-2 strand of the virus - the first case in Gaza in 25 years. Augustus 29 : Israel and Hamas have agreed to brief ceasefires in parts of Gaza to allow the safe distribution of the polio vaccine, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). These pauses will begin Sunday and occur in three phases: central Gaza first, then the south, and finally the north. Each pause will last three days, from 6am to 3pm, and may extend to a fourth day if necessary. Vaccination Campaign planning The WHO and partners are launching a campaign to vaccinate 640,000 children in Gaza against polio, despite the ongoing war and damaged healthcare system.

The Kisiya family fights to reclaim their property from violent settlers after 22 days. [Original post] Settlers Attack Palestinians on Their Land in Beit Jala settlers are threatening to seize the lands of the Kisiaeh family in the Al-Makhour area, located near the settlements. The landowners fiercely defended their property and successtully repelled the settler attacks. [Tags: Tough Guy, Soldiers and Settlers, Shops, Dog, Agriculture, Demolition Order, Home Theft, Living conditions, Terror, Property, Land theft, Provocation] [Found by: Eye on Palestine] [Location: West Bank > Bethlehem > Al-Makhrour > Beit Jala] [Archivist Notes] The Christian Qaisiya (Kisiya) family owned land in al-Makhrour valley, near Beit Jala, in the occupied West Bank.

The mother is praying for her son and please "Oh Lord, please grant us patience." Islam comments on the scene: "Difficult scenes...With every passing of martyr, the heart weeps of sorrow for them. We not know how to console this bereaved mother, and you feel like you're being grossly opportunistic documenting this intimate scenes, but what are we to do? One of the people here asked me a few moments ago: "What will my testimony change? Is it going to make the world wake up?" Unfortunately, I don't have answer to that. The mother is being consoled by her relatives while her son is being interred. I know not if there's anything that can console a mother or father over the loss of their child. This is a new martyr joining the other 16,000 martyred children. Such scenes of are recurrent scene, but ones we do not and cannot get used to. The loss of small children burial and seeing bereaved parents are difficult to witness. Anyway...'

This was confirmed by the press and the testimonies gathered by B'tselem on Augustus 26, less than one week after the facts. According to the press, on Augustus 21, Israeli forces injured a Palestinian citizen, at midnight ednesday/Thursday, in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, after hurling a concussion grenade into his vehicle. The Israeli forces, stationed in the southern part of Hebron city, opened fire towards his vehicle with live ammunition. Then, the soldiers stopped and searched his vehicle, allowed Jaber to leave, and then hurled a concussion grenade into the man’s vehicle. Muhammad Jaber’s Testimony: While driving to buy groceries with his wife, Muhammad encountered soldiers after hearing gunfire. He stopped the car and saw soldiers approaching with weapons aimed at them. Despite his pleas not to shoot, soldiers forcibly removed him from the car, cursed at him, and interrogated him about his presence in the area. As soldiers pushed him back toward the car, Muhammad heard his wife shouting about a grenade. The stun grenade exploded near his face, causing him to lose consciousness. Muhammad awoke in a hospital with severe head pain, ringing in his ears, and difficulty breathing. Their car sustained extensive damage, and he continues to experience significant health issues. ‘Abir Jaber’s Testimony: ‘Abir described her terror when soldiers surrounded their car and aggressively pulled her husband out. She was afraid they would shoot them both. One soldier mockingly threw a stun grenade into the car, which exploded under Muhammad’s face after she tried to push it away. She managed to escape the car, sought help from residents, and accompanied her unconscious husband to the hospital. She continues to experience back pain and emotional distress. Both Muhammad and ‘Abir are left physically injured and emotionally shaken. Because of the use of primitive equipment and the lack of heavy and advanced rescue equipment, this causes fatal harm to the victims and extreme fatigue and danger to the rescuers. There is a large number of martyrs due to the lack of equipment, and when I say a large number, I mean thousands; this shows the extent of the damage caused by this. People in Gaza are killed and tortured more than once, even when they are destined to survive.
